University Marks 75th Anniversary

CSU-Pueblo has been an institution of higher learning for over 75 years and is still going strong. While the years have seen the university change and ultimately evolve into what it is today it can still be traced back to its roots at the Pueblo County Courthouse in 1933.

Decision CSU-Pueblo: ASG Elections ‘08

CSU-Pueblo’s Associated Students’ Government will hold elections on March 18 and 19.
These elections will determine who fills the seats of the student legislature. All of the ASG seats are up for election.

Prior to the 1970’s the roles of women in history was rarely the subject of serious study. Before then very few scholars even identified themselves as women’s historians. Today, however, almost every college offers women’s history courses.In 1978, the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women started Women’s History Week to promote the teaching of women’s history.
It became so popular that in 1981, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution making the week a celebration for the entire country.
Several significant factors contributed to the emergence of women’s history, as well as several hard working women. During the civil war reformers not only fought for the abolition of slavery but also pressed for women’s rights.

Massari Grand Opening Highlighted by Victory
The new arena has been referred to as the best in the conference by almost anyone on the staff, faculty or even the contractors that have been building the arena for most the summer and fall semester.
According to Todd Kelly, athletic development director, the new Massari Arena and student recreation center is “The best in the region, it will definitely help to recruit prospective
students and athletes alike, it’s a winner hands down on appeal alone.”

Campus and Community Events—March 4-20

With the crowd nice and wound up from a halftime performance by Rocky, the Denver Nuggets mascot, the Lady Thunderwolves took the court in the second half and opened up the flood gates.
The scoring began with the ladies letting it rain from downtown, hitting 8 of 15 shots from beyond the arc. Both Anna Simpson and Michelle Ambuul each hit a pair of three pointers. The new arena even has university President Joseph Garcia excited.

When you think of a hookah bar what do you imagine? Does your mind invite images of a shifty Cairo bar from the Indiana Jones movies, or a chic Wi-Fi coffee lounge that offers a wide variety of cakes, drinks and even helps with your studies? The lacrosse team at CSU-Pueblo has faced its share of challenges in its seven year history at CSU-Pueblo. Being a club sport the team has faced financial as well as participation problems.
