For the upcoming spring concert, coming to CSU-Pueblo will be The Used as part of their nationwide “Get A Life” campus tour. The Used will be performing with support from Straylight Run, Army of Me and Street Drum Corps. The Used came in as number one from a campus wide survey of over 1000 plus votes put out by the Office of Student Activities and the 2008 Special Events Committee.

The spring concert is put on and organized by a committee of 15 students that have worked diligently to bring the students this opportunity. “This is a time where the whole campus can come together and have a sense of community with one another,” Office of Student Activities Interim Director Nicky Damania stated.

“Music brings people together, and it’s a free concert. Weather you are there for ten minutes or the whole concert, the main thing is you have shown interest. Not every campus can put on a free concert like this for the students.”
The Used are a post-hardcore quartet out of Orem, Utah, that are known for their fiery live shows and sperratic band behavior. Songs dealing with band personal experiences such as homelessness, poverty and substance abuse have helped fuel The Used as one of the premier bands playing today.

Led by energetic frontman Bert McCracken, The Used are veterans of many music festivals including Ozzfest, headliners on the Vans Warped Tour and the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tours, also a more recent stint with Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution Tour. The band has racked up more than 600 worldwide performances and are known for being road warriors Known for hits such as “The Taste of Ink”, “Take It Away” and the bands recent hit “Bird and the Worm.”

The Used will certainly not disappoint the CSU-Pueblo crowd. One of the bands supporting The Used will be Straylight Run, an indie quartet out of Long Island, New York. Straylight Run are known for their strong live shows and being one of the very few high profile indie bands around. Formed by former members of Taking Back Sunday and Breaking Pangaea, Straylight Run formed to make a band that would help them abandon everything they know and form a new kind of band.

Frequent touring and rave critic reviews have kept Straylight Run in the forefront of indie music. Hits by the band include “Existentialism on Prom Night,” and “Soon We’ll Be Living in the Future.” The bands latest tour dates have been in support of Bayside.

Army of Me is a Washington, D.C. based rock group that blends alternative and indie to create a unique style and sound. This band will be one to watch out for in the future. People not familiar with Army of Me might want to check out the bands song “Going through Changes.”

Street Drum Corps is an experimental drum trio out of Los Angeles, California that puts together new and exciting kinds of music and performances. Using everything from hand drums, acoustic drum kits to buckets, kitchen ware and garbage cans, Street Drum Corps has made music and performed with members of No Doubt, Atreyu, 30 Seconds to Mars, Good Charlotte, Strung Out, From First to Last, My Chemical Romance and Alexisonfire. On many occasions the band has taken the stage with Bert McCracken of The Used. The band has performed on the Vans Warped Tour and the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour.

The concert will be held at the new Massari Arena on April 3rd. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is estimated to run around 2.5 hours. One free ticket will be given away with CSU-Pueblo student I.D. Contact OSA (OUC 002) or (719)549-2151 for more information.
